Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

The Ashlands and Misterton Federation is fully inclusive. We are proud of the way our schools manage the needs of all children, including those who require Special Educational Needs support and/or have disabilities. This page outlines key information with regards our provision for SEND and further useful information. Our school has co-produced our SEND policy with families, children and young people. It was approved by the Governing Body in September 2019.

Mrs Kay Dawson is our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCo). If you have any queries regarding Special Educational Needs or if you need to make an appointment she can be contacted on 01460 73437 or 01460 72745.

Our SEND Governor is Elisabeth Clemow.

Mrs Kay Dawson, SENCO

Core Standards

The core standards were designed to make sure that all educational settings understand and comply with updated legislation. They make it clear ‘what to expect’ in terms of what is provided, and are written for parents, children and young people, school staff and those who provide services to families. It describes what can be delivered from the setting, school or colleges own resources which has been allocated directly. This information will form part of the ‘Local Offer’ that is; what can be expected for children and young people (o-25 years) in Somerset.
